Not only considered an incomparable francophone ambassador, Le Vent du Nord is a driving force behind the Quebec progressive folk movement, as well as a leading group in the revival of traditional Quebec music. Since its founding in 2002, it has experienced a meteoric rise that never ceases to amaze!
The group performs works from the traditional repertoire as well as original compositions. Their skills as performers, arrangers, and composers, as well as their powerful stage presence, imbued with profound generosity, are now recognized worldwide.
Le Vent de Nord has performed over 2,000 concerts on four continents, released 12 albums, and has received numerous prestigious awards, including a GRAND PRIX DU DISQUE CHARLES CROS (France), two JUNO AWARDS (Canada), two Canadian Folk Music Awards, and four FÉLIX awards at ADISQ (Quebec). It was named ARTIST OF THE YEAR at the International Folk Alliance Conference (2006) and was the first recipient of the TRANSATLANTIC BRIDGE AWARD (2015), jointly awarded by the international organizations BabelMed (France) and Mundial Montréal (Quebec).
After 22 years on the road, the band is now made up of singers and multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Boulerice, André Brunet, Réjean Brunet, Olivier Demers and André Gagné. The group has performed at major festivals including Celtic Connections, WOMAD Chile, WOMADelaid, WOMAD New Zealand, at the Grand Spectacle télévédique de la Fête nationale in Montreal in 2018 and 2024, in an official showcase at FOLK ALLIANCE in 2019 and 2025 as well as at the Grand Spectacle télévédique de la Fête nationale which attracted 75,000 people to the Plaines in Quebec City in June 2019.
